Blood Connect is a vital, real-time web application designed to bridge the gap between voluntary blood donors and patients in critical need. It serves as a secure, location-based registry where donors can manage their availability and recipients can instantly broadcast urgent blood requirements.
Finding a matching blood donor during a medical emergency is often a frantic, time-consuming process involving social media posts and manual calls. There was a critical need for a centralized, real-time platform that could instantly match available donors with nearby patients, reducing the critical time taken to secure life-saving blood.
I developed a robust, full-stack application featuring a real-time matching algorithm and geolocation services. I engineered a secure user authentication system separating donor and recipient portals. The platform allows recipients to post urgent requests, which instantly trigger notifications to matching, nearby registered donors. I implemented strict data privacy protocols to protect user identities while facilitating secure communication.
Tech Stack: Custom Full-Stack Web App, Real-time Database, Geolocation API Integration, Secure User Authentication, Automated Notification System.
Blood Connect dramatically reduced the average time required to find a matching donor by over 80%. By centralizing the request process and automating donor matching based on location and blood group, the platform has successfully facilitated hundreds of successful, life-saving donations within its initial launch phase.
